Birthstone for the month of June

The pearl is the official birthstone for the month of June and comes from the Latin word ‘Pirum’, meaning pear, which reflects the shape of the gem. The pearl is associated with loyalty, faithfulness and friendship. The Diamond Studio is an official stockist of The Jersey Pearl collection. Jersey Pearls are real undyed pearls which are carbon neutral and fresh water cultivated.

Jersey Pearls come in different colours including white, pink, peach and purple, furthermore they can be set in various different hand-made designs such as rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

During the month of February, The Diamond Studio is celebratng "29 days of romance". We are highlighting a piece from our collection every day, which has been lovingly created and designed exclusively by The Diamond Studio.

As 2012 is also a leap year, there is no excuse for the ladies not to take a leap of faith and be brave enough to "pop the question".

The Diamond Studio Launch

Wednesday night saw the official launch of the new Diamond Studio in 29. We have been open since our move, but it was only right to celebrate in style with Glasgow's glitterati. There was a great mix of top business people, Diamond Studio customers, friends of the business and members of 29. Guests were greeted with a champagne reception in the networking bar, and canapes provided by the lovely Mister Singh's India, as our DJ played throughout the night. The staff in 29 ensured that everyone was well cared for, and the Studio was buzzing with guests.

The event was a great success, and enjoyed by all. Photos from the night will follow on facebook, our blog and our website. We intended to hold a prize draw with everyone who left their business cards and contact details on the night, but time ran away from us so if you still want to enter we will hold the draw next week. The Diamond Studio: Business as Usual

Despite only moving into our premises two weeks ago, The Diamond Studio is open for business as usual. The move has been a great success. We have a few finishing touches to make, however we are still able to cater to all your jewellery needs.

Our new premises has not altered our services, and we continue to sell beautiful jewellery, create glamorous bespoke pieces, mend damaged jewellery, provide valuations and work on our collaborations with Scotland's top football clubs.

Jewellery remodelling can comprise anything from turning yellow gold into white gold, or melting down and re-creating a piece from the basics of your old jewellery, and everything in between. Black Diamonds - Exciting, Unusual and Affordable

Black diamonds are a rare and exciting form of diamond that create unique and unusual pieces of jewellery. Black diamonds hold their colour due to the graphite molecular structure of the molecules inside the stone.

Mystery has always surround this stone, from Indian, South American to European mythology. In ancient Indian mythology, the stone was believed to be the eyes of a serpent and was dedicated to Yama, the God of Death. However Italians believed that black diamonds had the power of reconciliation, and were given to prevent rifts and heal misunderstandings.

Several very famous black diamonds exist, including the pear shaped Amsterdam Diamond, which totals 55.85ct! Another larger black diamond is the Black Diamond of Bahia, which was discovered in Brazil, at 350ct! The stone is in its pure rugged state as it is so hard that it cannot be polished. However, the most famous is thought to be the Black Star of Africa, which is often regarded as the largest diamond in the world at 202ct, and was valued at $1.2m.
