The Opal - The Birthstone For October

Giving a piece of jewellery containing a birthstone gem will bring the wearer with good luck and protection. Monthly birthstones symbolize the month of birth according to the Gregorian Calendar.

For those who were born in the month of October, the opal is the traditional birthstone. This stone is associated with hope, innocence and purity. The traditional metaphorical properties for the October birthstone are happiness, faithfulness, loyalty and confidence.

The name opal actually means “to see a change in colour”. The opal occurs in many different colours and is most commonly found in Australia, Mexico and the U.S.

The word opal is derived from the Latin word “opalus” which means a “stone”. The stone can be incorporated into many different jewellery designs including rings, earrings and pendants.

We, at The Diamond Studio, can create a unique and personal design by letting us know exactly what you are looking for and your price range. By choosing your own stone, setting and materials we will come up with a truly personal piece, making it the perfect gift for anyone celebrating their birthday during the month of October.
